Work record

Original edge colour (a deep mauve-brown in the photos)No colour change

  1. 01Condition on arrival

A Hermès Béarn wallet in taupe (grey-brown) goatskin. The outer leather was in good condition, but opening and closing had worn the edge paint off the folding edges and corners.

  2. 02Target colour

The edge paint was redone to match the original edge colour. The outer leather was not dyed.

  3. 03Colour mixing & process

    1. Clearing the peeled edge paint
    2. Repainting the edges in the original colour
    3. Finishing
  4. 04Result

The edges read evenly. They can be seen side-on in the first and second after photos. After · photo 1

  5. 05Limits

There is no side-on before photo of the edges alone, so the before-and-after comparison of the edges is incomplete. Before · photo 2

  6. 06About these photos

The two photos differ in angle, background or light, so they are shown side by side rather than overlaid.

Leather can only be dyed darker than its current colour.
