Gucci Interlocking G belt — worn strap replaced in black leather

Gucci · Leather replacement

These are not dye jobs. Where leather was replaced, the new part can look lighter than before — that is new leather, not leather dyed lighter.

  3. 03About the work

A Gucci Interlocking G belt in beige GG canvas edged with brown leather. Years of wear had frayed the leather along the edges, and the holes where the buckle catches had stretched.

Canvas and leather had worn together, so a partial repair would soon have frayed again; the whole strap was remade instead. The new strap is black leather, cut to the width and hole positions of the old one, with the edges finished.

The original silver Interlocking G buckle was taken off and moved to the new strap. The first photo shows the frayed old strap next to the new one.
