Repairs

Hermès Izmir sandals, white — H-strap uppers replaced

Hermès · Leather replacement

These are not dye jobs. Where leather was replaced, the new part can look lighter than before — that is new leather, not leather dyed lighter.

    4. finishing
  3. 03About the work

Hermès Izmir sandals in white leather. Both ends of the H strap, where they tuck into the sole, had worn and crumbled, exposing the inside of the leather. On white leather the wear showed all the more.

The old straps were removed and used as a pattern to cut new white leather to the same shape. The second and third intake photos show the old straps next to the newly cut leather.

The new straps were set back between the soles in their original position. The footbed leather and the soles were not touched.
