Repairs

Prada nylon crossbody — worn piping leather replaced

Prada · Leather replacement

These are not dye jobs. Where leather was replaced, the new part can look lighter than before — that is new leather, not leather dyed lighter.

The record

  1. 01Condition on arrival

The leather piping around the edges had worn down to its white core

  2. 02Main steps

    1. Removing the old piping
    2. making new piping in leather
    3. setting it into the edges and stitching
  3. 03About the work

A black nylon Prada crossbody. The leather piping around the body had worn from the base and corners up, the leather gone and the white core inside exposed.

Piping is set into the body seams and stitched with them, so the seams were opened, the old piping removed, and new piping of the same size made in leather and stitched back in.

The nylon body and the strap were left as they were. Compare the white, worn edges in the intake photos with the edges after.
