Givenchy orange leather tote — collapsed shape rebuilt

Givenchy · Shape restoration

These are not dye jobs. Where leather was replaced, the new part can look lighter than before — that is new leather, not leather dyed lighter.

  3. 03About the work

A Givenchy tote in orange grained leather. The leather is soft, and over years of use the sides and base had sagged, so that when set down the bag folded over to one side.

The outer leather was left as it was, and the sides and base were reinforced from the inside to give the bag its shape again. Reinforcement that is too stiff loses the original soft feel, while one that is too weak soon sags again, so its strength was set to suit the weight of the leather.

This was shape reinforcement, with no recolouring and no new leather. Compare how the bag stands and the angle of its sides in the intake and after photos.
