03About the work
A slim Hermès reversible belt in gold-brown leather with white stitching. The gold-tone surface of the small H buckle had worn, its shine dulled and its corners roughened.
After the buckle surface was prepared, it was plated in rose gold, as requested. When plating changes the colour, any staining left on the base easily shows through the new colour, so the preparation was especially thorough.
The leather strap was left as it was. Compare the gold buckle in the intake photos with the rose-gold buckle in the after photos.
