Louis Vuitton Monogram Eclipse messenger — logo re-coated matte black

Louis Vuitton · Hardware plating & coating

These are not dye jobs. Where leather was replaced, the new part can look lighter than before — that is new leather, not leather dyed lighter.

The record

  1. 01Condition on arrival

The coating on the edges of the LV logo had chipped, exposing the silver base

  3. 03About the work

A messenger bag in grey-and-black Monogram Eclipse canvas. The LV logo on the front has a matte black coating, and where its corners rub, the coating had chipped to the silver base metal in places.

The chipped edges were levelled, then the logo was re-coated in a matte black with no shine, as it was originally. A glossy black would not suit the canvas and would look freshly painted.

The canvas and the strap were not touched. Compare the logo close-ups in the fourth and fifth intake photos with the after photos.
