Many Louis Vuitton pieces pair coated canvas (Monogram, Damier) with untreated natural cowhide (vachetta). The canvas is tough but cracks where it folds; the cowhide darkens and stains with water and handling.

Fresh cowhide starts pale and darkens over time with light and use. If you want it closer to the rest of the bag, tell us at consultation — we can add a light tone after replacement.
