Dye record

Denim blue → Deep indigoChanged to a darker colour

  1. 01Condition on arrival

A Prada Canapa tote in denim-blue canvas with a white PRADA logo print. The canvas had faded, with marks around the corners and handles.

  2. 02Target colour

Deep indigo — darker than the original denim blue.

  3. 03Colour mixing & process

    1. Cleaning
    2. Mixing
    3. Dyeing the canvas indigo
    4. Finishing

The white logo print was left undyed; only the canvas was coloured.

The colour was applied several times so it would reach into the heavy canvas weave.

The striped lining and metal hardware were not touched.

  4. 04Result

The denim blue has become a deep indigo, and the PRADA logo is still white. Before · photo 2 / After · photo 4

  5. 05Limits

No particular limits were noted. Any difference the leather keeps is explained before work begins.

  6. 06About these photos

Before was shot in a bright studio and after on a grey floor, so the light differs — treat the colour comparison as indicative.

The two photos differ in angle, background or light, so they are shown side by side rather than overlaid.

Leather can only be dyed darker than its current colour.
