BlackNo colour change

  1. 01Condition on arrival

A Saint Laurent card holder in black calfskin embossed with a crocodile pattern. Going in and out of pockets had dulled the surface shine and worn the edge paint along the corners and edges.

  2. 02Target colour

No colour change. The black was kept; only the shine and the edges were restored.

  3. 03Colour mixing & process

    1. Cleaning the surface
    2. Smoothing the worn edges
    3. Repainting the edges
    4. A gloss finish kept out of the embossed grooves

The gloss was kept from pooling in the embossed grooves, so the pattern stays legible.

  4. 04Result

The stacked edges of the card slots can be seen in the fourth after photo.

The surface reflections look crisper, and the colour is black both before and after. Before · photo 4 / After · photo 2

  5. 05Limits

This is calfskin embossed with a crocodile pattern, not real crocodile.

The original photos are small (768 px), which limits close comparison. After · photo 2
