Dye record

Pink (faded, dull) → PinkRestored in the same colour

  1. 01Condition on arrival

A Chanel mini flap in pink caviar leather. The colour had faded and dulled all over, and every scratch had raised a whitish mark, so the whole bag looked hazy.

  2. 02Target colour

It was re-dyed to match the original pink.

  3. 03Colour mixing & process

    1. Preparing the existing colour
    2. Colour matching
    3. Re-dyeing
    4. Finishing

The dye was applied without filling the caviar grain; the silver-tone CC turn-lock and the chain were not touched.

  4. 04Result

In the after photos — front, side and back — the pink is even and the whitish scratches no longer show. After · photo 1

  5. 05Limits

The after photos read as a redder pink. The lighting differs, so the photos cannot show whether the colour itself changed. After · photo 2

There is no before-and-after pair from the same angle, and no after close-up.Before · photo 4

  6. 06About these photos

The before was shot with the bag opened out on a white background, the after in the workshop.

The two photos differ in angle, background or light, so they are shown side by side rather than overlaid.

Leather can only be dyed darker than its current colour.
