Dye record

Turquoise → BlackChanged to a darker colour

  1. 01Condition on arrival

A Hermès key ring with two leather tassels, one mint and one turquoise. The request was to take only the turquoise tassel to black.

  2. 02Target colour

Turquoise to black — a change to a darker colour. The mint tassel stays its original colour.

The mint tassel was not part of the job and keeps its original colour. After · photo 4

  3. 03Colour mixing & process

    1. Cleaning
    2. Colour matching
    3. Dyeing black, spreading the strands apart
    4. Finishing

Dozens of fine leather strands overlap, so they were spread apart and dyed section by section, inner faces and cut ends included.

No colour was allowed to bleed onto the mint tassel beside it.

  4. 04Result

The turquoise tassel is black right into the opened strands, and the mint tassel is still mint. After · photo 1

  5. 05Limits

In the intake photos there are yellowish marks at the tips of the mint strands. The mint tassel was not worked on, and the record does not say whether the marks remain. Before · photo 1
